ENGLISH TRANSCRIPT: Sheikh Sudais Speech At Masjid An Nabawi In the name of Allah the Most Beneficent the Most Merciful Praise be to Allah The alleviator of calamity. And the remover of pandemics. I praise Him in His Glory, and He is the Most Honourable and Great and Most Proud. And I send praise and peace upon the last of the messengers and the leader, our Prophet Muhammad ibn Abdullah Peace Be Upon Him and his family and companions. As you know, may Allah preserve you - what the world has been trialled with, this widespread epidemic and this grave calamity And there is no doubt that it is a trial and a test from Allah the Mighty and Majestic. Allah said: And certainly, We shall test you with something of fear, hunger, loss of wealth, lives and fruits, but give glad tidings to the patient ones. And our blessed land, The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, has not been saved from this pandemic nor from its spread. What is obligatory upon every one of us is to be pleased with the pre decree and destiny of Allah. Allah says: Verily, We have created all things with Qadar (Divine Preordainments of all things before their creation). And He says: No calamity befalls, but with the Leave (decision and Divine Preordainments) of Allah. And He says: No calamity befalls on the earth or in yourselves but is inscribed in the Book of Decrees (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz), before We bring it into existence. So the affair lies with Allah the Mighty and Majestic. Allah says: Surely, His is the Creation and Commandment. Blessed be Allah, the Lord of all that exists. As it is incumbent upon the slaves to strengthen their faith in Allah the Mighty and Majestic and to have good thoughts about Allah the Most Blessed, Most High. And to strengthen their certainty in Allah The Most Blessed, the Most High, and to turn to Him, for there is no fleeing from Allah, and no refuge except with Him. Also what is incumbent upon all Muslims is to take protective measures and safety procedures, and this blessed country, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, has taken a number of precautionary measures – all of which is for the benefit of protecting yourselves, your bodies, and your souls. Because the responsibility of protecting the people is a great responsibility . And it is obligatory upon the rulers to uphold this responsibility. As is the right of their citizens and those living in their lands. And this blessed country has demonstrated an excellent example with implementing these safety measures that have been extracted from our clear legislation. And from the principles of our pure religion, Al Islam, is the principle that preventing harm is better than achieving good. And the principle that hardship attracts ease. And the principle of removing harm and that prevention is better than the cure. And the two Holy Mosques had a large portion of concern from this blessed nation with regards to the protection of the visitors of the Two Holy mosques and the visitors and residents of Makkah and Madinah by putting these blessed safety measures in place. And what is obligatory upon all of us is to cooperate with our rulers may Allah preserve them. And hearing and obeying them in that which is good. Because we are tied to the decisions the leaders make regarding their subjects. Allah said: O you who believe! Obey Allah and obey the messenger and those of you who are in authority. And the rulers – may Allah preserve them – have put in place appropriate and pointed measures for the safety of the people over themselves. So may Allah reward them with good and multiply their reward. The responsibility is with all of us. Oh my brothers every one of you is a shepherd and everyone is answerable with regard to his flock with following these measures put in place and staying in your homes because that is what our legislation calls for And quarantining has been derived from various proofs in the Book of Allah and Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah peace be upon him. Allah said: and do not throw yourselves with your own hands into destruction. And He said: And do not kill yourselves (nor kill one another). Surely, Allah is Most Merciful to you. There is no doubt that this is and huge responsibility and we must cooperate with our rulers - may Allah preserve them – with implementing these safety measures because it is for the good of all of us and protecting our bodies and our souls. And from the greatest reasoning of our legislation is protecting the individual. And praise be to Allah, these safety measures have been established. As it is upon us to be vigilant about taking information from the right sources like our safety channels. And we thank our safety officers – may Allah grant them success – for their hard efforts into preserving the safety of this blessed country. So may Allah reward them, those that are spread out in every corner and on the borders of our country to preserve the safety of this country and its citizens and residents and indeed it is a blessed effort which we thank them for. And it is our duty to cooperate with them to ensure the safety and security of the residents and visitors to this blessed country. As we also thank our brothers from the health institutions for their efforts – may Allah preserve them. It is upon us to cooperate with them and to thank them for their hard work and efforts. And from enjoining good is cooperating with our brothers in the medical fields in what they are involved in from the safety measures and this will be in all our favour. And we need to hold firm with our rulers – may Allah preserve them – and we should not listen to false rumours and made up lies and take heed of the good signs and hopeful ones. It is a calamity that will soon disperse by the will of Allah, the beginnings of which are visible to all. So it is upon us to turn to Allah with Dua, and Dua is a powerful weapon. And your Lord said: Call upon Me and I will answer you And we must turn to Allah in humility And Allah said: Verily, We sent Messengers to many nations before you and We seized them with extreme poverty (or loss in wealth) and loss in health with calamities so that they might believe with humility. When Our Torment reached them, why then did they not believe with humility? We ask Allah to protect this country and to protect the Muslims and the whole world from the ill effects of this pandemic. And it has been established from the legislation of Allah that if we return to Him – Glory be to him – he will alleviate our trials from us. O Owner of all Sovereignty, dispel from us what has affected us for we are not able to do so. Oh one who is worrying, your worry is ending. Allah is the one who will ease your worries. Allah will cause ease after hardship. O Allah the Lord of Glory and Honour we ask you to remove this calamity from this nation. O Allah remove from us inflation, disease, usury, fornication, earthquakes, and trials. And evil tribulations whether open or hidden. O Allah we seek refuge in you from insanity and leprosy and bad health, O the Lord of Glory and Honour. O Allah remove from our country, the Muslim countries, and the whole world every pandemic, and evil, and harm. We are on the doorstep of the month of Ramadan, so it is upon us to return to Allah, and repent to Him, and seek His forgiveness. And approach this month with sincere repentance. Sincere repentance! And in it we return to our Lord Glory be to him. And He is the Most Kind to His creation. And He is a forgiving Lord. And a pardoning Master. Allah says: Say: O My slaves who have transgressed against themselves (by committing evil deeds and sins) despair not of the Mercy of Allah, verily Allah forgives all sins. Truly, He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. We ask Allah with His Beautiful Names and Lofty Attributes to protect our country and the lands of the Muslims from every illness and harm and that He returns us to Him in a beautiful manner. And may Allah grant good to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and his trusted vice premier, His Crown Prince, for their blessed efforts in preserving and protecting the two Holy Mosques, the Muslims and the residents. Rather for the whole world And what they direct us towards in terms of protective measures is for the greater good. And to his highness the Prince of the region of Al Madinah and his highness his Deputy – May Allah preserve them – thanks and gratitude for what they have done for the Prophet’s Mosque by way of preservation and hard work. May Allah grant them good and multiply their reward and make this weigh on their scale of good deeds. Wait, and have hope, and have good thoughts, because good is coming by the will of Allah and the disease is dispersing with Allah’s Might and Kindness. O Allah mak
